Statistics of IoT in smart cities:

1.Smart Parking:

The biggest problem in the cities is more than 30% of travelers looking for parking. As the majority of the people are migrating to cities every year. Eventually, vehicles are getting increased. Smart parking with IoT makes life a lot easier, parking slots can be sensed and available online to book without any waiting. However, it creates a good revenue channel for the government.

2. Smart cities Infrastructure:

We have underground drainage, telephones lines, water lines, and electricity. for instance, How do you trace out interruption with telephones, leakage in water, electricity outage. How much time would it take? IoT can quickly trace out the issue to resolve. Apparently, it can alert well in advance, in this case, imagine how much time, efforts and human resource can be saved.

3.Weather forecast:

Perhaps, we don’t need to depend on satellites in future for the weather report. weather can forecast with sensors. Co2, Humidity, the temperature can be tracked with sensors. Based on the insights we can take care of nature.

4.Traffic and street lights:

Traffic delays and alternative routes can be communicated to mobile, deployed sensors on the road senses vehicles, switch on the street lights and off when there is no vehicle pass on. Imagine how much energy can be saved across the city.

5.Public transit:

Many transporters can follow buses and trains online now through GPS with IoT integration; they can easily track their next transport pick up. As the sensors can communicate about the preventive infrastructure maintenance is possible for environmental conditions and other systems.  Until recently, railways were unable to take advantage of sophisticated collision avoidance systems, like those used by ships and airplanes, because the nature of railroad tracks inevitably steered trains within inches of one another. These are the five potential advantages for smart cities with IoT.

Westminister city is going to be IoT city, 4000 lights and traffic poles are getting connected via IoT network as part of its smart signs program that will reduce operational costs and pick up public safety, based on the result it could be expanded to other cities as well.
